Custom Moment Types

The 7 built-in moment types cover most podcasts well. But if your content has recurring patterns the defaults don't capture — like Product Demos, Guest Introductions, Call to Action moments, or Industry Jargon Explanations — custom types let you teach the AI what to look for.

Go to Settings and scroll to Custom Moment Types. Click 'New moment type' and provide: • Name — a short label (e.g. 'Product Demo') • Description — tell the AI what this moment looks like (min 10 chars, max 500). Be specific: 'A segment where the host or guest demonstrates, explains, or showcases a specific product, tool, or service with practical details.' • Colour — pick a colour for the badge in your clip plan.

When you analyse an episode, your custom types are added to the AI's taxonomy alongside the 7 defaults. The AI considers all types equally and assigns whichever best fits each moment. Custom types appear in your clip plan with their custom colour badge.

The quality of your custom type descriptions directly affects how well the AI identifies them. Good descriptions are: • Specific — describe the moment's characteristics, not just its topic • Distinctive — explain how this type differs from the built-in types • Example-driven — mention what a typical instance sounds like Bad: 'Interesting moments about products' Good: 'A segment where the speaker gives a hands-on walkthrough of a product's features, often including specific steps, prices, or comparisons to alternatives.'

You can create up to 5 custom types. Edit names, descriptions, and colours at any time. Deleting a type doesn't remove clips already tagged with it — they'll show a neutral badge. Custom types are per-account, not per-show.
