Getting Started

Upload your first episode, watch AI find the best moments, understand your clip plan, and export results as JSON or CSV — all in under 5 minutes.

1. Create an account

Sign up at punchline.gg with your email or Google account. The free Starter plan gives you 3 episodes per month with full clip intelligence — no credit card required.

2. Upload an episode

From your dashboard, drag and drop your podcast file (MP3, WAV, M4A, MP4, MOV, or WebM — up to 3 hours). Give it a title, select the spoken language, and confirm you have rights to the content. Punchline uses resumable uploads, so even large files are safe on spotty connections.

3. Automatic transcription

Once uploaded, punchline transcribes your episode using Deepgram Nova-3 with speaker diarisation. You'll see real-time progress — typically 2-3 minutes for an hour-long episode. If the primary service is unavailable, Whisper kicks in as a fallback.

4. AI analysis

After transcription, Claude analyses your content and identifies the most compelling, shareable moments. Each clip is classified into one of 7 moment types (Surprising Fact, Hot Take, Emotional Beat, Humour, Compelling Argument, Story Climax, Actionable Insight) and scored for 5 platforms.

5. Review your clip plan

Your clip plan shows each identified moment ranked by confidence score. For each clip you'll see: timestamp range, moment type badge, platform suitability scores (TikTok, X/Twitter, YouTube Shorts, LinkedIn, Instagram Reels), ready-to-use hooks, and full post captions with hashtags.

6. Export your results

Export your clip plan as JSON (for developer integrations) or CSV (for spreadsheets and project management tools). The export includes all clips, scores, hooks, and captions.

Is there a free plan?

Yes — the Starter plan is completely free with no credit card required. You get 3 episodes per month with full AI analysis, 7 moment type classifications, and 5-platform scoring.

How long does analysis take?

Transcription takes 2–3 minutes for an hour-long episode. AI analysis usually completes in under 2 minutes after that. You'll get a browser notification when your clip plan is ready.

What file formats can I upload?

Punchline accepts MP3, WAV, M4A, MP4, MOV, and WebM files up to 3 hours long. Both audio and video sources are supported.

How many clips will I get?

Typically 8–12 clips per hour of content by default. You can adjust this with re-analysis — choose fewer (top 4–6) or more (15–20+) clips.
